The founder of Nilfisk-Advance, P.A. Fisker, began as an electrical engineer who liked to work on electrical motors. After starting his business in the year 1906, he began to produce motors to drive fans, machine tools, drills and coffee grinders. Mr. Fisker's dream from the start was to own a worldwide company advertising goods internationally.

The Nilfisk C1 was a tremendous breakthrough for the cleaning industry. This ground breaking vacuum cleaner, invented by Mr. Fisker, weighed just 17.5 kilos and can be operated by a single person. This invention came in a time where other cleaning machines were very big and required 4 or more operators, hence, the Nilfisk C1 transformed everything and developed the manner we clean forever. The mastermind behind these very first cleaning machines remains unparalleled. Cleaning machines provide an excellent solution to an existing dilemma; things get dirty and must be cleaned regularly, without a lot of effort.

Slowly but steadily, Nilfisk-Advance developed throughout the decades. In the 1980s, this growth actually occurred the time the company became a part of the NKT Group. Their new owners' determination and motivation made Nilfisk-Advance take a huge leap forward within the trade, trying to be among the leading universal players in the market of professional cleaning machines.
